(Worthy News) - Last week Sudanese authorities arrested yet another cleric without any charges.

According to Morning Star News, the whereabouts of Pastor Philemon Hassan of the Hai El Esbah Baptist Church were unknown after he was arrested by agents from Sudan's National Intelligence and Security Services.

Hassan's wife does not know why her husband was detained and has asked for prayer.

Hassan's arrest follows that of two South Sudanese pastors who were eventually released after eight months imprisonment on false charges of committing capital crimes; the charges were supposedly brought about by the pastors' efforts to support Khartoum's Bahri Evangelical Church against the illegal state supported sale of its property.

Due to its treatment of Christians and other human rights violations, Sudan has been designated a Country of Particular Concern by the U.S. State Department since 1999. Sudan also ranked eighth on Open Doors' 2016 World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most persecution.
