(Worthy News) - Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed three Christian villagers in Nigeria's Kaduna state last week.

According to Morning Star News, the herdsmen had attacked Ninte village around 2 a.m.

There were gunshots throughout the night, according to Naomi Sali, who hid in the brush during the attack. Sali said the Fulani burned down houses, including the home of the Rev. Saleh Yamusa, whose family managed to escape the blaze unharmed.

After the attack on Ninte village, residents from other Christian villages also fled their homes.

Kaduna and Plateau states have had to endure attacks from Muslim Fulani herdsmen, but recently Islamic groups have been arming and accompanying the herdsmen to incite conflicts with Christian farmers whose land the herdsmen covet to graze their cattle.

Church leaders said the attacks on Christian communities by Muslim herdsmen was a war waged on behalf of Islam to eliminate Christianity from Nigeria.

Christians, who live mainly in the south, make up 51 percent of Nigeria’s 158.2 million; Muslims account for 45 percent and live mostly in Nigeria's north.
