iran-christianTEHRAN, IRAN (Worthy News)-- An imprisoned Iranian pastor was injured in an attack by his own guards last week, according to Barnabas Aid.

Pastor Farshid Fathi was among several prisoners hospitalized after a raid on their ward by about 100 guards.

During the assault of Evin Prison's notorious Ward 350 -- which holds political prisoners and prisoners of conscience -- guards assaulted inmates who had previously protested an overly aggressive search of their cells.

Dozens of prisoners were injured in the raid. Farshid -- who is serving a six-year sentence -- suffered a broken foot and toe.

Despite numerous reports about the attack, the head of Iran's prisons denied there had been any beatings of prisoners by their guards.
