TEHRAN, Iran (Worthy News)-- The execution of an Iranian pastor sentenced to death for apostasy from Islam has been delayed.

The Rev. Youcef Nadarkhani, who led the largest church network in Rasht, Iran, was arrested Oct. 13 after objecting to Christian school students, including his own, being forced by the state to read the Qu'ran. After a recent trial in the Gilan Province's Assize Court, Nadarkhani was originally sentenced to be executed on Oct. 24.

However, a formal verdict was not delivered by the court and security officials have informed the courts to temporarily delay the pastor's execution until further notice, according to Jason DeMars of "Present Truth Ministries".

"He is currently under a sentence of death," said DeMars, "but they are delaying the delivery of the verdict in order to put more pressure on him to turn away from Christ. Once the written verdict is delivered, there will be 20 days to appeal to the Supreme Court."

Nadarkhani is thought to be held in the security prison in Lakan, Iran, where he has been pressured to recant his Christianity and return to Islam, but if Nadarkhani is finally executed, it would be the first judicial execution of a Christian in Iran for 20 years.

Nadarkhani is the father of two children under the age of ten.

  1. First my salute to pastor Yousef Nadarkhani for boldly and courageously proclaiming the Gospel of Christ in Iran and secondly, for remaining firm in his faith in Christ, and thirdly, throwing a challenge to the Iranian authorities................ that even if they kill his body, they can't come close to his soul. All the nations, peoples who persecute the servants/children of God are a BIG LOSERS.... not forgetting, they gonna die a horrible death too; i.e. their souls will have no place to rest but the buring fire - the hell. Yet our loving n merciful Lord Jesus Christ, has asked His children to forgive and pray for the enemies for they do not know what they do. Right now, I can only pray for pastor to continue remaining in the comfort of our Lord's strength and I pray n hope the Iranian court will come out with a verdict of freedom for him, in Jesus' name. May God touch n turn the stone hearted people into repentance and acceptance of His Love. Amen!

  2. Today is my appointed day of weekly prayer for persecuted Christians around the world, of whom, Pastor Yousef has long been on my list. His translated message was so inspiring, and it was as though the Apostle Paul was speaking through his Epistles to the beloved church in Philippi. It is my fervent prayer that Pastor Yousef be released after having been tested and proven faithful, as in Acts 5:40-42, "And when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And when they had departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And in the temple and every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." But if not, then as Paul also gloried in his afflictions for Christ, so too that Pastor Yousef be a glorious sacrifice for the cause and witness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Phil 1:20-21)
Please keep Pastor Youcef lifted up in your most fervent prayers, along with his wife and children for strength through Christ. Father, thy will be done, that Christ be glorified. Amen.

  3. What is going with Pastor Youcef is really confirming that Jesus Christ and the word of God is fulfilled. I am so confident that the Almight God is in control of everything and I am trusting my God that Pastor Youcef will be released as soon as possible.

Please keep Pastor Youcef lifted up in our prayers.

    Yours in Christ

    to breathe freely

  5. In the name of Jesus my Lord and savior I ask that Pastor Youcef will be released from prison. The God in whom I serve I have total confident. He will not abandon His people. Nothing is too difficult and impossible for Him. Pastor Yocef is not the first who faithfully embrace and value him. And my God is faithful, He will surely act. By the power and authority that God has given to me,I bind the power of death that is hovering over him right now. You, spirit of death you are defeated 2000 years ago when Jesus paid the price the cross of calvary . You cannot win over the life of Pastor Youcef. You manipulating spirit that manipulating the iranian authorities I command you out in the name of Jesus, You spirit of wickedness that continue to cover the eyes of the iranian authorities, I command you to bow down in the name of Jesus. I speak life to Pastor Youcef, he will not be executed. he will be released. Angels of God, I command you, fight his unseen battle and do your work, camp around him and dont stop until he will be released from prison. In the name of Jesus.

  6. here from everybody is big talk and no action, how long is the Christian world is going to relay on prayers?fight for yours people, don't let the Islam to destroy what you believe in,how many sacrifices you need?

    • Should we sink to the low, depths of this Iranian court who seeks to have him executed?  Should this man be executed and his faith remains strong, just know that he will receive new life, life perfected and walk with our Saviour.  Mirawayne, "Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?" ~ NASB, Matthew 8:26.  Have no fear.

  7. 8. In Jesus name you will be saved Youcef, as you continue to be faithful to the end. May Joseph the foster father of Jesus, and Joseph of Arimathea who took Jesus body after his death, transfer all positive thoughts and graces they received and now get and contain in heaven be an intercessor and Mediator with and in all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ Our Lord.  If it is too much for you, may your conciousness be replaced by the consciousness of the good thief on the cross and may you be in paradise instantly, with all the holy beautiful ladies ever martyred for Jesus justice.  Barry Beisch, Morton Grove, Il
